All events listed are open to all registered participants. It is strongly recommended that for any event requiring tickets, they should be purchased through advance registration. Only a very limited number of tickets, if any, will be available for sale during the meeting. If you must cancel your participation in a ticketed event, you may request a 100% refund by returning your tickets to the Mathematics Meetings Service Bureau (MMSB) by December 30, 2022. After that date, no refunds can be made. Special meals are available at banquets upon advance request, and must be indicated on the Registration/Housing Form when you register.

Grand Opening Reception, Wednesday, 6:15-8:30 pm. The JMM officially opens with festivities to celebrate our vibrant mathematical community. After a brief ribbon-cutting (at 6:00 pm), the mathematical art display, vendor, and exhibitor booths will all be available to you, along with hors d'oeuvres, food stations, beverages, and entertainment. If you can come up with reasonable guesses for any of the above, come to The Estimathon! The Estimathon is a mind-bending mixture of math and trivia. Attendees will work in teams to come up with confidence intervals for 13 Fermi (estimation) problems, ranging from totally trivial to positively Putnamesque. The team with the best set of intervals will be crowned the champs!

Uniform Convergence: A One-Woman Play, organized by Corrine Yap, Rutgers University, Thursday, 6:00-7:00 pm. Uniform Convergence is a one-woman play written and performed by mathematics graduate student Corrine Yap. It juxtaposes the stories of two women trying to find their place in a white male-dominated academic world. The first is of historical Russian mathematician Sofia Kovalevskaya, who was lauded as a pioneer for women in science but only after years of struggle for recognition. Her life's journey is told through music and movement, in both Russian and English. The second is of a fictional Asian-American woman, known only as "Professor," attempting to cope with the prejudice she faces in the present. As she teaches an introductory real analysis class, she uses mathematical concepts to draw parallels to the race and gender conflicts she encounters in society today. Since 2016, Corrine has performed Uniform Convergence at 15 different academic institutions, off-Broadway, and at the 2018 MAA MathFest. Ballroom C, Third Level, Hynes Convention Center
