The 2021 Joint Mathematics Meetings (JMM) will take place virtually, January 6-9, 2021, Mountain Standard Time (MST).
A Note from MAA and AMS
We are deeply saddened by the actions that happened on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in our nation's capital. We strongly condemn those who would seek to use extralegal means to interfere with the transfer of power that will happen from our certified election. Our thoughts and prayers are with our elected leaders as they seek to restore order. As leaders in the mathematical sciences community, we pledge to be mindful of the ways in which our work both depends on and contributes to a strong democratic society. We encourage all of our members to be attentive and supportive of our colleagues who rightfully feel threatened or devalued by the current crisis.

Greetings. As of 2/10/21, the majority of the recordings are expected to be posted on the Virtual Meeting Platform and all registered participants should be able to view recordings of sessions and lectures. To view a video, click on that session title and the video will appear on the next page. The invited address lectures are also posted on the JMM YouTube Channel for all to enjoy, registered or not.
If a video that you are looking for is not posted, it either has not been posted yet or we did not have permission to post it. If you have any questions about a recording, please send email to mtgs-virtual@ams.org and we will let you know the status.
Switching from an in-person gathering in Washington, D.C. to a virtual meeting was agreed upon by the co-hosts, the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, an in-person assembly of several thousand people in January will not be safe for our community. This decision was not made lightly but in the interest of public health. We share your desire to gather in person, but as we’ve learned in 2020, we must be flexible in our work and to create opportunities amid uncertainty. It is our sincere hope that we will gather again under one roof at JMM 2022 in Seattle.
In planning for JMM 2021, we appreciate the adaptability and conviction shown by the mathematics community. The 2021 Virtual JMM will be a somewhat scaled-back version of the traditional meeting. It will remain devoted to mathematics research, teaching, advancement, and achievement, as well as time for conversation with friends and colleagues.
We’re excited about the opportunities that a virtual meeting offers. Mathematicians and students can attend from anywhere, access information, and participate in sessions. This online meeting will also allow participants to enjoy recorded content as their schedules permit. We look forward to working with session organizers, presenters, participants, exhibitors, and everyone committed to our mathematical community.
We are working hard to provide you with specifics on the 2021 Virtual JMM program, registration fees, exhibits, and deadlines. That information will be made available to you as soon as possible on the FAQ page. We thank you for your patience.
We hope you will join us for the 2021 Virtual JMM. For questions about the meeting program, contact meet@ams.org.
