Awards Celebration
In order to showcase the achievements of recipients of the various prizes, the JMM partners are co-sponsoring this event on Wednesday, January 3 at 4:45 p.m. in Room 207 at the Moscone South Convention Center, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. All participants are invited to attend.
The American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) will present the Alexanderson Award. The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) will present the AWM Dissertation Prize, the AWM Schafer Prize, the Microsoft Research Prize, the Sadosky Research Prize, the Gweneth Humphreys Award, and the Louise Hay Award. The Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications (COMAP) will present the Doug Faires Award and the Solomon Garfunkel Award. The International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS) will present the ILAS Invited Lecture. Pro Mathematica Arte (PMA) will announce the PMA Service Award. Spectra will announce the Lavender Lecture Award. The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) will announce the AMS-SIAM George David Birkhoff Prize and the JPBM Communications Award winner. The American Mathematical Society (AMS) will announce the ALbert Leon Whiteman Memorial Prize, the Award for an Exemplary Program or Achievement in a Mathematics Department, the Award for Distinguished Public Service, the Award for Impact on the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics, the Bertrand Russell Prize, the Chevally Prize in Lie Theory, the Frank Nelson Cole Prize in Algebra, the Elias M. Stein Prize for New Perspectives in Analysis, the Ivo and Renata Babuška Thesis Prize, the Leroy P. Steele Prizes (Lifetime Achievement, Mathematical Exposition, and Seminal Contribution), the Levi L. Conant Prize, the Mathematics Programs that Make a Difference Award, and the Ulf Grenander Prize in Stochastic Theory and Modeling.
