About this Prize
This award was endowed in 2022 by students, colleagues, and friends of Elias M. Stein to honor his remarkable legacy of mentoring future generations. Stein is remembered for his prolific mentoring of graduate students, his inspiring series of undergraduate courses, and his many warm collaborations with junior researchers. This award seeks to recognize mathematicians at any career stage who, like Stein, have positively impacted mathematicians in future generations through sustained engagement in initiatives or mentoring practices of undergraduate students, graduate students, or junior researchers.

Nomination Procedure: Nomination letter which includes concrete examples of extraordinary mentoring (maximum three pages) and curriculum vitae or biosketch of nominee (maximum three pages). The strongest nominations would also incorporate three to four testimonials or letters of support from colleagues, students, and mentees. A list of current and previous mentees is also encouraged.
